Rapper Lil’ Wayne is yet again
facing legal trouble after he was arrested early Wednesday near Yuma,
Arizona on three felony counts for possession of dangerous drugs,
possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of narcotics.
The
25-year-old rapper, born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., was arrested by
federal drug agents and booked into the Yuma County jail, after a
search by patrol agents of his bus revealed nearly four ounces of
marijuana, just over an ounce of cocaine, 41 grams of Ecstacy and
miscellaneous drug paraphernalia, said Ramona Sanchez, spokeswoman for
the Drug Enforcement Administration. They also found $22,000 in cash on
the bus.
Mr. Carter is in our custody at
this time," Yuma County Chief Deputy Major Leon Wilmot told
AllHipHop.com. "But the arrest was performed by another agency. It was
a DEA arrest."
Two other members of Wayne's entourage were arrested following the search, which occurred at around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
According to Yuma Sun,
Lil Wayne appeared via video arraignment late Wednesday morning in a
justice court in Wellton, 35 miles east of Yuma. His bond was set at
$10,185, and he was released from jail about 2 p.m. Wednesday after
posting the bail.
"We will find out by Jan. 25 whether or not
the (Yuma) county attorney will file charges or not," an attorney
booked by the rapper said. "He is looking forward to his day in court.
That’s all I can say right now."
He was previously arrested in
Idaho in October 2007 for possession of drugs, and in July 2006 in New
York for possession of a handgun.
